About Jon and Shelley

Shelley and Jon met in Chicagoland in the fall of 1988 Shelley was working on her PHD in Religion and Culture and Jon was working on a masters of Theology. They bonded over the love of theology, justice, food, cooking, and flavor. After 5 years of being associated with each other they got hitched. The couple has live together in St Louis, Durham, Raleigh, Moorhead MN, Sioux City, and Enon.

The exploration of beer began in Durham NC in the 90’s. In 2001 They moved to Fargo/Moorhead and Jon joined a homebrew club with a yeast bank and some really good brewers. There was years of experimenting and refining the brews. In 2007 Jon and Shelley moved to Enon to be closer to family and Jon continued to home brew. Much of the research into opening a brewery declared if you are going to open a brewery you should work in the industry. After working at Yellow Springs Brewery for more than 8 years Jon decided that it was time.
